So you want to get to know me…
I was born and raised a North Carolina gal and Clemson Tigers fan. I’ve always been passionate about people and appreciating the things around me– be it doodling, taking candid photos of my friends (that they hate) that I genuinely love because it just captures them & their moment of happiness in such a wonderful, almost tangible way; working in sales where I get to talk to different people all day and help resolve their tedious problems, or just admiring one of my nine thirteen houseplants in the morning sun before work.
I’ll never forget how in a phone conversation I had with the CEO of the tech company I most recently left, he told me that his first impression of me when he came to visit our Dallas office was that I was someone who genuinely loved talking to people. I’m really proud of that comment. There are so many wonderful things to be gained, learned, and enjoyed in conversation with others.
I love traveling, and my ability to do so here and there over the past few years (not to mention being hauled around to nat’l park destinations growing up, much to my little-kid dismay) has largely impacted who I want to become as I continue along in life. There are so many beautiful things to do and see in the USA and abroad, and to have the ability and finances to see some of these things and immerse yourself in other cultures, even if only regionally is invaluable, and it’s something I try not to take for granted. It also has shown me how much there is to be thankful for in the United States, but also helped illustrate for me where we have room to improve for the betterment of our communities.
I have a cat, Ruby, who I absolutely adore and take pictures of all day long. I’ve lived a few places– NC, SC, TN, TX, and now CO. I’m the oldest sister of 3 kids, and my parents– hats off to them for raising us, dealing with us, teaching us how to move about the world, and loving us unconditionally even when we surely made it hard. Not everyone has that, so I’m thankful.
Black Lives Matter, LGBTQI+ Lives Matter, Women’s Right to Choose matters, Healthcare for all is necessary, Climate Change caused by humans is real, etc etc, and none of this is up for debate on this blog.
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
Any-who, hope you enjoy this little hobby as it grows, and let me know what you think!!! Much love,
Lauren
